Knowledge and skills statements for children and family social workers

Please read this letter from our National Secretary, Heather Wakefield

Dear Colleagues,

The Department for Education is pressing ahead with its plans to introduce the National Assessment and Accreditation System (NAAS) for children and family social workers in England.  The NAAS will involve children and family social workers being assessed against the Knowledge and Skills statement for approved child and family practitioners, practice leaders and practice supervisors.  The Department for Education is now seeking views on these statements.

UNISON is still actively campaigning for the NAAS to be scrapped but we also engage with this process to try and improve the content of the statements in case our campaign is not successful.

Therefore, can branches please share both statements with your children and family social workers?   They can be accessed at the links below:-

Please ask them to send their views on them to by Monday October the 2nd. The statements are all just a few pages long.

Best wishes,

Heather Wakefield
